Is there some freeware or shareware that can convert a scanned document into WORD?

I just got a scanner, and it came with basic software. The manual said I could convert OCD files into Word but I'd have to pay another $100 for special software to do so. Is there a way to do it with some freeware, shareware, or just manipulating Windows office?

  1. Do you mean OCR, optical character recognition? If it's that, SimpleOCR does the trick for me. (The freeware version). http://www.simpleocr.com/
